Research topic

Biotechnological processes for the transformation of agri-food residues into added-value molecules

Project Synopsis

From food wastes to added value products: the aim of my PhD project is the study of biocatalytic and fermentative approaches for the production of molecules of industrial interest using agro-food wastes as feedstocks. Wild type and genetically modified acetic acid bacteria (AAB) will be used for biotransformation of above mentioned substrates for the production of high added value compounds (e.g. bacterial cellulose).

Project keywords

acetic acid bacteria (AAB), biocatalysis, bacterial cellulose, circular economy
