Associate Professor

Alessia Colombo was born in Rho (MI) on July 20th, 1979.
She graduated in Chemistry (2003, 110/110) at the University of Milan, under the guidance of Prof. E. Santaniello, with a thesis on the synthesis of modified adenosines. After graduation she worked first for Miat Spa and then Sanofi-Aventis in Prof. B. Danieli’s laboratories (2004-2005). Ph.D. in Industrial Chemistry under the guidance of Prof. G. Lesma (Dept. of Organic Industrial Chemistry, 2008). Since 2008 she collaborates with Prof. D. Roberto (Dept. of Chemistry, University of Milan) first as INSTM fellow and then as fellow of the University of Milan. October 2016 – December 2021 she is researcher (first as RTD-A then as RTD-B). Since January 2022 she is Associate Professor at the Chemistry Department of University of Milan (SSD CHIM/03).
She began her research in organic chemistry with the synthesis of new polyfunctionalized chiral synthons, key intermediates in the enantioselective synthesis of polyhydroxylated and 3,5-dialkyl-disubstituted quinolizidines, indolizidines, and pyrrolizidines, she was then attracted by the field of Molecular materials for photonics and electronics.
In 2019 she was awarded with the Nasini Prize from the Inorganic Chemistry division of the Italian Chemical Society for her “ relevant and original contribution in the study of inorganic complexes with optoelectronic properties for applications in luminescence, non linear optics and in solar cells”.
She is author of 3 Patents and 91 publications on international journals.
