Who we are and our history
EntoPar is a research laboratory at the University of Milan, with a core focus on parasitology and medical and veterinary entomology. It was founded in 1996 by Claudio Bandi to preserve and advance the scientific and cultural legacy of his three mentors—Ivo de Carneri, Claudio Genchi, and Luciano Sacchi. Three renowned parasitologists from the Universities of Pavia and Milan, each of whom brought a distinct perspective to parasitology: medical, veterinary, and ecological.
Since then, EntoPar has expanded its expertise, integrating teams led by Paolo Gabrieli, Sara Epis, and Matteo Brilli, who focus on the molecular biology, immunology, and evolution of pathogens and vectors. The strength of the laboratory lies in its team, now composed of over 15 scientists spanning three generations of researchers.
EntoPar fosters a dynamic exchange of ideas and techniques, bridging molecular and cellular biology with field research, and blending traditional morphology-based entomology and parasitology with ecology and population genetics.
