The European Seminar of Aesthetics aims to build an international network of academics and researchers from the host institutions so as to promote cooperation among its members and foster critical debate on key topics in Aesthetics.
Origin and development
The Seminar was founded in 2014 by Maddalena Mazzocut-Mis (Università degli Studi di Milano – Italy), Maria Filomena Molder (Universidade Nova de Lisboa – Portugal), Carol Talon-Hugon (Université Paris-Est Créteil Val de Marne – France) and Claudio Rozzoni (Università degli Studi di Milano – Italy), on the occasion of the international workhop Estetica delle passioni held at the University of Milan in the frame of «Bookcity».
In 2015 the Seminar acquired its current structure thanks to Danielle Lories (Université catholique de Louvain – Belgium), Salvador Rubio Marco (Universidad de Murcia – Spain) and Anne-Elisabeth Sejten (Roskilde Universitet – Denmark) joining the team.
Goals and activities
Among the seminar’s objectives are: encouraging exchange between experts and young scholars; having established scholars respond to the presentation of PhD projects relevant to the debate topics; the active participation of each institution taking part in the project. For this reason, we would like to stress the importance of the collaboration between the European Seminar of Aesthetics and the new Research Network “Aesthetics Unlimited” (https://aestheticsunlimited.ruc.dk), hosted by the Roskilde University (Denmark). Also thanks to this collaboration “Aesthetics Unlimited” obtained consistent funding from the Danish Council for Independent Research, which led to joint activities within the Seminar.
