JAPIC (Japan Project Industry Council – https://japic.org), a Japanese committee, promoting the development and improvement of public and private infrastructure, sent a delegation to visit Italy from August 28 to September 7, 2025.
During their stay, the visiting representatives organized a busy schedule of meetings aimed at gaining a better understanding of Italian policies in the field of urban development and public space management.
In particular, the delegation is strongly interested in the Italian infrastructure system, pedestrian mobility policies, as well as electronic payment systems applied to public transport, decarbonization, and sustainability.
In this context, on August 28, 2025, the delegation met with several UNIMI professors in the main hall of our University.
During the meeting with representatives of UNIMI professors from the ESP and Bac departments, formed by Profs. Guglielmina Diolaiuti, Antonella Senese, Jacopo Bacenetti, Giuseppe Gambazza, and Ruben Baiocco, held in the afternoon from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., several Japanese professors and business representatives expressed keen interest in Italian urban mobility programs and in meeting with experts in the field.
“The hope is that this first meeting and opportunity for discussion will lead to future projects and collaborations between UNIMI and Japan,” said the UNIMI professors.
