The neuro-cognitive correlates of creativity

The project aims to investigate the possibility to enhance creative thinking by using cognitive and neurofeedback trainings.

In the first case, different classes of primary schools in Milan were trained by using creative laboratories based on divergent thinking. The efficacy of the training was assessed with standardized creative and cognitive tests. The different performances were related to other variables of interest, including educational methods in learning processes. The project is still ongoing and will cover creative learning processes in group educational contexts, both in students with typical development and with DSA.

In the second case, a neurofeedback session was proposed to university students to investigate the effects on creative and artistic abilities. The feedback was set to enhance frontal alpha band in a way to induce frontal hypofrontality, to reduce cognitive constraints, and to free creative thinking. The feedback consisted in different animated games.
