Photocatalysis, being an advanced oxidation process (AOPs), is commonly used for water pollutants degradation. It exploits a light source and a photo-catalysts which is able to generate active species that break down organic contaminants present in the water medium. However, the photo-catalyst, generally used as dispersed poweder, leading to significant issues in terms of recovery and recycle. For these reasons, the use of a suitable floating support can bring many advantages, such as a better oxygenation of the catalysts, a higher light-utilization, an easier recovery and reuse. The goal of this reasearch is the development of floating photocatalytic devices for the degradation of organic pollutants. Moreover, the study focuses also on the investigation of solar-active and eco-friendly materials, that can be used for several cycles in real conditions.
