Daniela Jabes – Graduated in Biological Sciences, with a PhD in Medical Microbiology at the University of Milan, Italy, Daniela did her postdoctoral work at the Rockfeller University (NY), under the supervision of Prof. Alexander Tomasz. She has a long and documented experience in R&D of new antiinfectives and oncology drugs, matured in international Pharmaceutical and Biotech Companies. Prior to covering the position of VP, medical Microbioly and Preclinical Development at Biosearch Italia/Vicuron, she worked at Nerviano Research Center (Farmitalia-Carlo Erba-Pharmacia Corp) where she contributed to the discovery and characterization of several new antibiotics for the treatment of severe infections as well as tuberculosis. In 2005 she founded NeED Pharmaceuticals, focussing on discovery of new treatments for neglected diseases (tuberculosis, malaria and AIDS), where she is currently CEO. In 2006 she co-founded NAICONS scrl (now NAICONS srl), a discovery engine based on exploitation of natural products to identify novel chemical classes to be addressed for various clinical indications, with main focus on infectious diseases. In 2011 she co-founded NeED Foundation, to promote faight to drug counterfeight. Since 2015 Daniela is Scientific Director at Molecola SA, an advising company providing strategic and operational services on preclinical and early clinical development of drugs. She is author and co-inventor of 17 patents and patent application and of several papers published in peer-reviewed journals.
