Workshop on multiple zeta values, modular forms, and elliptic motives

Announcing a Workshop on multiple zeta values, modular forms, and elliptic motives:

The goal of the workshop is to explore connections between multiple zeta values and elliptic modular forms, and also connections between their l-adic and motivic analogues. In the literature these connections arise as relations between multiple zeta values, cusp forms for SL_2(Z) and SL_3(Z), the Galois group Gal(bar{Q}/Q), and certain rather mysterious modular varieties. It is tempting to believe that a deeper understanding of these connections will arise from a good definition of “elliptic zeta values.” It is hoped that the workshop will synthesize previous work and shed light on their motivic significance. There will also be a preparation day on 2 May. This day aims to provide background for students and interested non-experts through survey talks and basic expositions of previous work.
