Giulia Tonsi
PhD student at the impianti pilota laboratory under the supervision of the professor Carlo Pirola. She got a Master degree in Cemistry with a Thesis called: "Synthesis and characterization of nitogen doped carbon nanocubes" at the prof. Mariangela Longhi laboratory.
The PhD research, titled “Recovery and separation processes in the recycling chain of polyamide plastic materials to obtain eco-sustainable raw materials”, focuses on the study of a possible method to recycle the post-industryal and post-consumer waste materials with a polyammidic base (texil, airbag, rugs, car components, ecc.) throught a dissolution/precipitation method, to separate the nylon from impurities and other polymers to wich it's combined and be able to recycle it with a chemical or thermomechanical method. this specific research includes the study of both the recycling process by itself and all the other connected processes for the solvent recovery, with the objective of maximizing the economycal and enviromental sustainability.
Supervised projects:
- RIGENCAP project: the development of a method for the polluted air purification in closed enviroments with an adsorption system based on activated carbons that can be regenerated in situ. (winner project of the prize Seed4Innovation).
