Area: Stability study - Experimental
Description: The Rankine cicle is a system that is often used for the thermic energy recovery to produce work through the evaporation and expantion of the vapor of a liquid. In this thesis project, different organic fluids for the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) are tested in conditions of high temperature, oxidant atmosphere an possible industrial impurity. The objective of the tests is to verify the stability from oxidation of the most common fluids, mainly the cyclopentane. The work is mostly composed of long lasting trials (70 hours) and the successive analisys with different analytical methods (UV/Vis absorption, FTIR, GC-MS, NMR).
Key-words: ORC, thermal stability, oxidation, cyclopentane.
