Simone Bonavita is the Executive Director of the Information Society Law Center (ISLC) at the University of Milan. He is a key staff member of the Jean Monnet European project of excellence titled “European Citizens’ Online Fundamental Rights, Data Governance, and Cybersecurity in the Information Society: A European Legal Framework” (#DATAGOV).
At the University of Milan, he teaches master courses in “Data Protection & Data Governance,” “Computer Forensics and Digital Investigations,” and “Coding for Lawyers & Legal Tech.” He holds a Law degree and a degree in Legal Sciences from the University of Milan, where he completed master theses on privacy and new technologies, along with a specialization in digital investigations. He further obtained a Master’s Degree in New Technologies Law and Legal Informatics and a Ph.D. in New Technologies Law and Legal Informatics (CIRSFID) under the supervision of Prof. G. Sartor at the ALMA Mater – University of Bologna. In 2017, he was a Visiting Fellow at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence.
Simone Bonavita is also the author of numerous publications and a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars on topics related to law and new technologies, personal data processing, ISP liability, and digital communication.
