Maria Vittoria Dozzi graduated cum laude in Chemical Sciences in 2008 at the Università degli Studi di Milano with an experimental thesis on the effects induced by surface modification on the photocatalytic activity of TiO2.
She received her PhD degree in Chemical Sciences in January 2012 with a thesis entitled “Improving the Photocatalytic Activity of TiO2 for Environmental Application: Effects of Doping and of Surface Modification”, under the supervision of Prof. Elena Selli.
In order to complete and refine her PhD project, she worked for ten months (March – August 2010 and April – July 2011) at the Catalysis Research Center of Hokkaido University in Sapporo (Japan), under the supervision of Prof. Bunsho Ohtani.
From January 2012 to November 2016, as a post-doc, she worked on photocatalysis at the University of Milano in the group of Prof. Elena Selli, also fruitfully collaborating with the SmartMatLab Centre of the Department of Chemistry, especially in the period July-October 2016 during which she received a post-doc position in the research project entitled “Tecniche e protocolli avanzati per la preparazione, caratterizzazione e sperimentazione preapplicativa di materiali innovativi”.
From November 2016 to November 2019, as Research Associate (RTDa), she continued to work on photocatalysis at the University of Milano in the group of Prof. Elena Selli.
From December 2019 she is a tenure track Associate Professor (RTDb) at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Milano; her research interests are mainly focused on the development and characterization of efficient and sensitive photo(electro)catalysts for solar energy conversion and environmental applications.
Up today, she published 53 papers on international journals (including 18 papers as first author and 7 as corresponding author) and one book chapter. She presented more than 80 communications, most of them in oral form, at international and national scientific congresses.
Number of citations = 1742; h-index = 25 (from Scopus)
She got the National Scientific Qualification for the role of associate professor of Physical Chemistry – Validity: from 10/04/2017 to 10/04/2023.
Honours and awards – Grant to participate to the 63rd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting (Chemistry), held in Lindau (2013); “Giovanni Semerano” award, promoted by the Italian Chemical Society, for the best PhD thesis in Physical Chemistry (2013); finalist of the “Primo Levi” prize, the most important Italian recognition award in the field of Chemical Sciences, for under-35 years old scientists, members of the Italian Society of Chemistry (2018).
Editorial and organization activities – Guest Editor of the Special Issue entitled “Surface Aspects of Semiconductor Photochemistry” of the peer-reviewed open access journal Surfaces, published online by MDPI; Co-Chair and contact person of the 7th International Conference on Semiconductor Photochemistry (SP7), held in Milano in 2019.
Memberships: member of the Italian Chemical Society and of the Italian Photochemistry Group (GIF), Italian section of the European Photochemistry Association.
