Current PhD Students
Amirhossein Dini graduated in Master’s programme in Materials science and engineering from University of Tehran (UT), holds a bachelor’s degree from Isfahan University of Technology (IUT).
Currently pursuing as a Ph.D student under the supervision of Prof. Gian Luca Chiarello on the project entitled “Process intensification in wastewater treatment and for waste valorization”. This project is supported by Bunge company.
Luca Maistrello graduated cum laude in Chemical Science with a thesis entitled “Innovative photoelectrocatalytic filter for Recirculating Aquaculture Systems”. He is now continuing to study this topic during his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Gian Luca Chiarello.
His interests in academic research and study span from organic chemistry to physical chemistry.
Laura Vigni graduated cum laude in Chemistry in April 2022 with a thesis entitled “Visible light sensitization of TiO2 photoanodes by coupling with Mo-doped BiVO4” under the supervision of Prof. Dozzi.
She is currently working as a PhD student with professor Maria Vittoria Dozzi in the field of design, synthesis and activity implementation of metal oxide-based photoanodes.
Elena Cazzulani graduated in Industrial Chemistry in September 2022 with a thesis entitled “Investigation on the green catalytic routes for the valorization of xylose into value-added products” under the supervision of Prof. Gervasini and Dr. Campisi.
Her research activity as PhD student is focused on the development of materials and electrodes for microbial bioelectrolysis systems and the study of the microbiological corrosion. The PhD project is co-funded by RSE S.p.A.
Simone Livolsi graduated cum laude in Industial Chemistry in October 2021 with a thesis entitled “Innovative photoelectrocatalytic water remediation system for fish farming”, supervised by Prof. Gian Luca Chiarello.
His research activity as PhD student is focused on the design of novel materials for photo-thermo-catalytic solar fuels production. He is also in the FishPhotoCat PRIMA project, for the development of smart purification system to improve water quality, fish production and environmental sustainability in aquaculture systems.
Former PhD Students
Marco Montalbano graduated cum laude in Chemistry in October 2019 with a thesis entitled “Photoactivity and Photoluminescence of N,F-doped TiO2: Effects of Au Nanoparticles Deposition” under the supervision of Dr. Dozzi and he is since then a PhD student at UPG.
His main research interests concern the morphological modification and doping of TiO2 photocatalysts.
Chiara Nomellini graduated in February 2019 with a thesis entitled “Copper-based Visible Light Harvesting Photoanodes for Water Oxidation”, supervised by Prof. Selli.
Her research activity as PhD student is focused on the synthesis and optimization of thin-film photoanodes and their photoelectrochemical characterization.
