Reading Seminar 2026 - The Hodge conjecture for abelian varieties
The goal of this seminar is to study the recent work of Markman proving the Hodge conjecture for abelian fourfolds.
Program.Reading Seminar 2025 - The period-index conjecture
The period-index conjecture establishes a relation between two numerical invariants associated to a Brauer class on a smooth projective variety, namely its period and its index. The goal of this seminar is to survey the recent progress in proving the conjecture. An interesting aspect is the combination of different ideas coming from noncommutative algebraic geometry, Hodge theory, enumerative geometry and special bundles on hyperkahler manifolds, involved in the proofs. We will focus on the case of abelian threefolds, following the work of Hotchkiss-Perry, and hyperkahler manifolds, referring to the papers of Huybrechts and Hotchkiss-Maulik-Shen-Yin-Zhang.
Program.Reading Seminar 2024/2025 - Irreducible symplectic varieties and compactifications
The aim of this seminar is to give an introduction to the theory of irreducible symplectic varieties, which are a generalization of irreducible symplectic manifolds (or hyperk\"ahler manifolds) in the singular setting. More precisely, we have the following goals:
1) Study the global moduli theory and Torelli theorem in the setting of primitive symplectic varieties proved by Bakker and Lehn;
2) Investigate some known strategies to construct examples.
