Cristina Olivieri

Cristina Olivieri

Cristina graduated from Univeristà degli Studi della Tuscia in 2011 with a master’s degree in Industrial Biotechnology (110/110 cum laude), and she defended her Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences in 2016 (Excellent) under the guidance of Prof. Fernando Porcelli (Univeristà degli Studi dell Tuscia, Viterbo, Italy).

Cristina spent 6 years in the Veglia lab, where her research aimed to understand the allosteric mechanisms governing the activity and regulation of enzymes using biophysical techniques such as nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy.

Cristina’s primary area of expertise is biophysical structural biology. She joined the SattinLab in November 2022, and her main project is the biophysical characterization of enzymes involved in bacterial persistence.

When she “doesn’t pretend to be a mad scientist,” Cristina loves cooking, particularly baking (that she also shares with her lab mates), hanging out with friends and family, traveling, and reading thriller/crime books.
