Francesco Catrambone

Francesco obtained his master’s degree in Industrial Biotechnology from Università degli Studi di MILANO-BICOCCA in 2016 and had a 1-year experience as an assistant to research at the ASST FBF Sacco Hospital, where he developed EGFR-targeted nanoparticles as a theranostic approach for triple-negative breast cancer.

He undertook his PhD at the Synthetic Biology Research Centre at the University of Nottingham (UK), developing a Microbial Electrosynthesis platform based on CO2 fermentation by the bacterium C. necator, where he defended his thesis in 2022. His areas of expertise are molecular biology, metabolic and protein engineering.

Francesco joined the Sattin Lab in October 2022, working on the development of a medium-throughput enzymatic assays for Rel enzymes, involved in bacterial persistence.

In his free time, Francesco is very passionate about Astrophysics and likes to practice free climbing, skiing and hiking.
