The goal of the Centre is the setting up of an Interdepartmental coordination framework at Università degli Studi (Milan), for carrying out studies and research activities focusing, on one hand, on the judicial protection of rights in a multilevel legal systems’ perspective (relationships between national courts/proceedings and supranational courts, tribunals and proceedings: e.g. ECtHR, CJEU); on the other hand, on the legal issues arising out of civil and commercial cross-border litigation in a series of relevant substantive legal sectors (fundamental procedural principles; cross-border contract, competition, IP, banking, financial, labour and family law). Cross-border litigation has become more and more relevant over the last years due to the increasing interaction between legal and economic systems. It raises relevant issues as to its theoretical assessement and its practical application.
