Denmark takes over the Presidency of the Council of the EU from 1 July 2025

As of 1 July 2025, Denmark is holding the rotating Presidency of the Council of the EU for the eighth time, this time in a trio with Poland – which held the Presidency from 1st January to 30th June 2025 – and Cyprus, which will take over from 1st January 2026.

Under the slogan “A strong Europe in a changing world”, the Danish Presidency is committed to steering the work of the Council, promoting the EU agenda and coordinating policies between member countries by focusing its actions mainly on two priorities: A secure Europe and a competitive and green Europe.

A film festival for the 2025 LUX Award

The CDE and Unimi bring the films of the LUX Prize to the Aula Magna!
Thanks to the contribution of the European Parliament, the film festival featuring the five films selected for the 2025 edition will begin on March 5th. Each week, in the Aula Magna at Via Festa del Perdono 7, a film will be screened in its original language with subtitles, with free entry upon prior registration on the website

Annually presented by the European Parliament and the European Film Academy, in cooperation with the European Commission and Europa Cinemas, the Prize celebrates European cinema and aims to engage audiences in debates on important social issues that reflect our common European values, such as democracy, the rule of law, pluralism and freedom of expression.

The new European Commissioners of the Von Der Leyen Presidency have been presented

Ursula Von Der Leyen presented the new European Commission this morning with a speech highlighting the importance of pursuing the development of competitiveness, decarbonization, and the digitalization of the European economy, while always keeping in focus prosperity, security e democracy, the core priorities of the EU. Following the recommendations of the report commissioned to Mario Draghi and recently made public, the President sought to give the composition of the Commission more fluidity and greater importance to the interconnections and coordination of European policies.
