Single cell analysis technologies are exponentially increasing the analysis capabilities of complex biological systems at the molecular level, allowing to spatially map in tissues the biochemical processes involved in cellular mechanisms.
In the BIOMETRA Department there are:
-an Electron Spray Ionization Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (ESI/MALDI-TOF Imaging) that performs simultaneous analysis at the single-cell level of the distribution of various analytes (metabolites, lipids, peptides, proteins, drugs)label-free tissues . Its high flexibility and analytical speed also allow for the 3D reconstruction of the metabolomic or proteomic profile obtained from the analysis on individual sections of a three-dimensional model.
-CosMX Spatial Molecular Imager, employs a multi-FISH technology that enables the simultaneous detection of up to 1000 transcripts using a combination of predefined and specially designed probes. This technology enables spatial organization analysis on material derived from any experimental model of interest.
