Speech by the Lord Chief Justice at the launch of TheCityUK Legal Services Report 2017

On 23 November 2017, the occasion of the launch of the TheCityUK’s Legal Services Report for 2017, which illustrates the state of art of the legal services industry in the UK (not only London, but throughout the rest of England and Wales, in Scotland and Northern Ireland) and shows the attraction of the United Kingdom as a world leading jurisdiction and London’s importance as a centre for international dispute resolution (where, in 2016, 1,100 claims have been issued in the Admiralty and Commercial Court, over 70% of which involved a party from outside England and Wales and 45% of those claims had no party from the jurisdiction), the Lord Chief Justice delivered the following speech:
