Science Communication Competition, 11 July 2017

FEMS Education Group invites you to participate to the science communication competition: Engage your Audience!

It may be of interest to those who are i) young scientists (PhD student or postDoc) and love talking about their research, ii) passionate about engaging your peers but you also crave to engage a broader audience, iii) enjoying talking about your Science in an un-informal context, making your research meaningful even outside the academic environment.

WHAT: A competition where you get to engage a scientific jury and your public with the description of your scientific research in a 3 minute broad-public elevator pitch.

WHERE: The competition will be held at the Valencia FEMS Congress 2017

WHEN: Education session, Tuesday 11 July 2017/13:00 – 15:00.

WHY: First of all because it’s fun! In second place, because you will consolidate your communicative-soft-skills with feedback from professional communicators

HOW: Submit 200 words lay summary of your research and a one minute introduction video of yourself (sent as a link e.g. WeTransfer, GoogleDrive, Dropbox) to fems@fems-microbiology.org

If you will be selected as one of the eight competitors, you will be granted with the full Congress participation fee waived.

Join the competition, get feedback on how you present your work – and learn how your research may become a fun and meaningful engagement for your audience!
