Project Synopsis
My PhD project explores the response of the gut interactive ecosystem to sub-lethal concentrations of food-related silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). The main aim is to investigate interactions and potential toxicity mechanisms in a complex in-vitro gut system model composed by the intestinal epithelial cells, the gut microbiome (considering both sessile and planktonic cells), and a probiotic.
My results can contribute to create the scientific know-how to develop innovative methodologies and perspectives at the heart of fundamental issues in nanotoxicology and nanosafety assessment.
