Project Synopsis
Nowadays, the request of quality products by consumers and the interest in production sustainability in the agri-food sector are growing. So, researchers are looking for “green technologies”, which are non-destructive, rapid and chemical-free detection methods.
The project consists in the application of hyperspectral imaging on fresh-cut products, in order to monitor qualitative parameters. The main goal of the project consists in the development and optimization of a portable, easy-to-use and cheap hyperspectral sensor, which could be integrated in production or processing lines or in conservation and storage facilities.
This can help saving time in monitoring and screening fresh-cut products, avoiding chemical analyses, reducing the environment impact and food waste and satisfying consumers expectations about quality and healthy foods.
